Description: This 4 page Regimental Historic Burnside Letterhead letter was written by Charles D. Garlick mustered in on Sept 27, 1861 and mustered our on Sept 21, 1864. He was wounded at Antietam, MD in the shoulder. The letterhead shows the major battles that the Regiment were engaged in during the war. This Letter is dated Dec. 5, 1863 Near Portsmouth, VA. Camped about 4 miles from Portsmouth. The wagon goes down every day and brings back bread and the express up to camp. We have comfortable quarters and I have a stove in my tent, etc. Written to his brother. The ink is some what faded but still legible. Shipping includes insurance & tracking.
