Description: Offered for sale is a reproduction of an original 1961 Post cereal baseball card press sheet featuring all six Rice Krinkles boxes. A press sheet was generated prior to a full run of an estimated 50,000 foot roll of complete boxes so that it could be checked and approved for quality. This particular sheet, labeled as a Master Roll Sample, was printed on March 27, 1961 and has been in the owner’s family since back then. A press sheet represents one revolution of each of the six rotogravure cylinder plates (cyan, yellow, magenta, black, key color and lacquer), resulting in six boxes and all 30 cards featured on the backs of Rice Krinkles. To complete the full Rice Krinkles boxes, Post would laminate the printed rolls to cardboard, cut the boxes out individually and precisely, fold, and finally, glue the ends and side. The owner has professionally printed a few copies of the sheet. The colors are brilliant and the clarity is outstanding. When matched up with an original 1961 Rice Krinkles box front, the accuracy of the reproduction is outstanding. The size of the sheet is approximately 35” x 38”. The paper is high quality and somewhat heavier than the original paper used for Post cereal boxes. There are very few 1960s Post cereal baseball or football card press sheets in existence. Chances of having the opportunity to own an original are relatively small. To put it another way, a sheet like this would be fairly expensive if an original sheet ever became available. While not an original, this item is still unique. It displays brilliantly. When was the last time you saw something like this that epitomizes 1960s Post cereal cards?
