It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. Month long leak in hydrant - Mechanical engineer James Spahr inspects a leaking fire hydrant he first spotted early in November. Spahr called the city four times asking them to shut off the hydrant which he estimates has spewed 500,000 gallons of water onto the surrounding land. Gary Barton, spokes for the City Water Maintenance Department said the hydrant was turned on to ease pressure on other hydrants. City water workers could not turn the hydrant off because the stem had stuck, he said. Barton said the hydrant was fixed Wednesday. Houston Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches. Photo is dated 12-06-1973.
