The first Milwaukee County Courthouse was built in 1836 at the present site of Cathedral Square. An addition for county offices was added in 1846. The first Courthouse was razed in 1870 to accommodate construction of a roomier Courthouse (center), completed by 1873 at a cost of $650,000. The third present Courthouse (right), which includes marble walls and an rate County Board room on the second was constructed in the early 1930's at the new site at 901 N. St. The $10 million structure was designed by Albert Randolph Ross, the New York architect who also designed the Safety Building. The annex was added in 1968.Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
