Description: Painted and carved wood mask painted in black, red, and ochre yellow. From what I can see this seems to be either made by the Guro (Gouro) or Baule tribes, the black marks on the cheeks representing facial scarification meant to compliment physical beauty and performed during rites of passage to adulthood. Some losses to paint and a chip to the interior of the mask which does not affect the exterior. 13" x 6 x 3.
