Description: I love the spring colors of this antique 1930's silk chiffon dress. The ruffled and frothy tea dress is light as air. It is shirred at the neck and below the waist. The neck ruffles fall across the arms. The edges of the ruffles are finished off in tiny little points. Some of the threads that create the shirring have broken but those that remain still accomplish the intended effect. The dress is self belted at the waist. This belt is attached to the dress , but there is no hook and eye or other closure. There is an additional wide flowing scarf or sash of the same fabric as the dress that , I believe, was meant to be worn as a scarf. The fabric, though very thin, is still flexible and strong as it can be for what it is. Regarding the condition issues, a repair will need to be done under the right arm. This tear is a vertical one on the bodice and just about on the seam so a whip stitch type repair should not be very visible, or it could be reinforced with fine webbing. There are a couple of small tears just above the hem as photographed. These are also in an area where repair will not be very noticeable. This dress is light airy and beautiful, in fact at this moment, I think this is one of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen! Maybe I am just ready for spring! The dress is shown on a curvy size 6 mannequin.
