Description: An original albumen print photograph dating to the 1880s, in carte de visite format, approx. 63 x 103 mm, by VICTOR & CO..An extremely rare back mark! This travelling photographer is not listed in Davies & Stanbury (Mechanical Eye). The ONLY reference to him I can find is in a notice placed in the Tungamah and Lake Rowan Express, 31 March 1887. Tungamah is situated south of Yarrawonga in the Goulburn Valley, northern Victoria. I think this is actually a copy print of circa 1870 carte made by Victor & Co in the 1880s. From an album belonging to Helen Elizabeth Macvean (Griffith) (1839-1911), who married Wedderburn surgeon Peter Macvean in 1867.The carte is in very good condition.FREE POSTAGE WITHIN AUSTRALIA.
