Launched in 1918 in support of a Christian middle road to the peaceful achievement of independence, the party never enjoyed electoral success. By 1923 it had become marginalised and slightly cranky, advocating the "Abolition of Socialist Exploitation", and the creation of a large class of scientifically-minded celibates. Soft cloth binding. 7 inches by 5 inches. Some creasing and wear to the cover (please see pictures). Binding sound. Internally clean. Newspaper clippings of obituaries of the author loosely inserted. A rare and important book. Fr. Ferris (1881-1971) was an Irish scholar and Nationalist who served as chaplain to the IRA prisoners at Tralee Gaol in 1920-21.
