VINTAGE—Knitted 8” Betsy McCall Clothes + Copied 1962 McCall’s Instructions

Included are 4 pages that I copied from the 1962 Spring and Summer McCall’s Needlework & Crafts magazine. These pages include instructions for knitting all 4 of the dresses pictured on the colored page. The 2 dresses included in this auction are described as ‘Cape Collar Dress’ and ‘Striped Princess Dress’. The two handmade, knitted dresses are most likely vintage and are in nice condition. NOTE: I cannot tell how vintage they are (they look lightly used, so I doubt they are new). I am not sure that I bought these two dresses together.‘Cape Collar Dress’ – The yellow and black dress is clean with no stains, no pulled stitches—I don’t see any damage. The yarn seems to be ‘fuzzy’. Since I don’t knit, I don’t know if this is a type of yarn or if age and light use made it this way. The back closure is 2 tiny hooks and eyes.‘Striped Princess Dress’ – The waist of the cream and very light mint? Green dress is wider than the yellow dress. I am guessing, but this may indicate that 2 different people knitted them. This dress is also clean and has 2 small, shiny metal snaps. There are several pulled threads in the knitting. NOTE: When looking at the pictures after I posted the auction, I noticed that the actual color of the yellow dress is much brighter then it shows on my monitor. I have discovered that monitors may show pictures differently than those posted from the Seller's computer—even the tilt of the monitor makes a difference. Therefore, you can rely on the description to be a very good indication of the condition of the items in this outfit and use the pictures as a support, realizing that the darkening of some of the white items may be different than you see on your monitor.. *** The clothing pieces came to me through ebay. I have a smoke free home and I do not smell unpleasant odors on them, but I cannot guarantee what environments they came from. In my opinion, these vintage knitted dresses will make a nice addition to your collection—just as they did for mine.*** Please e-mail any questions before you bid.
