The shaft does not stand erect when the boots aren't being worn - you will need boot shapers if you want them standing up when not worn. They measure approx. 11 1/2 inches in total length and 4 inches across the widest part of the soles. The pictures do not do this item justice - these are a great pair of boots (shoe trees and boot shapers not included).
